A website and an application which inform you about sights, activities and possibilities offered by Medvednica Mountain, are your new guides and digital companions in discovering it.

Medvednica or Zagrebačka gora is a mountain to the north of Zagreb whose summit, Sljeme, is a popular excursion site accessible by cable car, bus or car. It is often the goal and destination of athletes, enthusiasts as well as picknickers of all ages in every part of the year. In summer it cools you, in winter it allows you to do winter sports and, in all seasons, it is an excellent choice for recreation, rest and enjoying protected nature spot. It also teaches you about nature and history.

As of 1981, an area of almost 18 000 hectares has been protected as the Medvednica Nature Park, and it is the home of 1205 plant species and subspecies. As much as 81 per cent of the area is covered in forest. There are around 70 mountain paths of various lengths and difficulty levels in the nature park.

Medvednica Mountain brings a lot of surprises; visitors are often interested in the Zrinski Mine, Veternica Cave and Medvedgrad Medieval Fortress.

The new web page www.medvednica.com is dedicated to all possibilities offered by Medvednica Mountain in terms of excursions, sports, gastronomy and accommodation. It is a detailed guide of everything Medvednica has to offer to picknickers and athletes. It also lists catering and accommodation units and useful data, along with the weather and pollen forecast and practical advice linked to safety, nature preservation and similar.

The new website is accompanied by a free-of-charge mobile phone app, and a video series dedicated to attractions of Medvednica Mountain has also been announced.

The website and the app, which are available in Croatian and English, were realised by the Zagreb Tourism Board in collaboration with numerous partners: the City of Zagreb, the Medvednica Nature Park, the Croatian Forests, the Croatian Mountaineering Association, the Mountaineering Association of Zagreb, the Croatian Mountain Rescue Service, the Zagreb Electric Tram and the Vladimir Nazor branch of the Zagreb Holding, whose main activity is organising trips for children and youth.
