Moneterra: Innovative Journey in the World of Money

If you think you know everything about the world of money, Moneterra – The Money Museum of the Croatian National Bank will prove you wrong and add to your knowledge in an interesting, modern and interactive way that earned prestigious international awards.

Moneterra – The Money Museum of the Croatian National Bank, which opened in Zagreb in mid-2024, won favour with visitors, but also international professionals due to its content and the way it is presented. Recently Moneterra has won the prestigious International Property Awards in London in the category of Best Public Service Interior of Europe and Africa. Also, in the category of Public Space Interior Design, architect Ante Vrban won the award for one of the best world projects in terms of architecture and design.

A committee of renowned international experts voted on the awards based on the strictest professional criteria; from architectural and technical solutions, installation designs and structural elements, through the resistance of materials and functionality of the space, all the way to the final visual expression. The nomination itself is a major recognition and it also required extensive technical and legal documentation, including all permits and the main and execution design.

Moneterra – The Money Museum of the Croatian National Bank whose concept and realisation is the work of an international team consisting of around 200 top experts, is located in the very centre of the city. By establishing it, the Croatian National Bank joined numerous central banks in the world that have a similar visitor information centre within their framework.

This unique museum, whose aim is to promote financial literacy, is designed as an educational and interactive centre that brings the world of money, banking and monetary policy closer to citizens. Through four thematic areas – with exhibits, video content and interactive installations – visitors can learn about personal finances, the role of central banks and the history of money in an interesting, accessible and stimulating way.

Moneterra is located in European Square, the admission is free, and it is open to visitors every weekday from 9 am to 19 pm and on Saturdays from 10 am to 14 pm.
