Summer at Matoš Festival at Mažuranac Square: Football Has a Retro Side
Summer at Mažuranić Square is again this year marked by retro atmosphere, excellent music and entertainment, but also one special symbol: a football!
The summer event called the Summer at Matoš Festival at Mažuranac Square will take place in one of the most beautiful parks in Zagreb from 17 June to 16 July. This event started in the Upper Town and later “descended” to the Lower Town, but kept its verified concept. It has been very popular among citizens and visitors in its previous four editions. Again, it offers a stroll in the park or resting on deck chairs with a very eventful music repertoire for all generations, tasty food and games.
However, this summer will not be the same as in the past, not at the Summer at Matoš Festival at Mažuranac Square, nor anywhere else: football euphoria will mark its scenography, but also bring programmes connected to “the Beautiful Game”.
Colour marked, separated zones in the shade of tall chestnut trees will become a mini stadium offering various activities. Visitors will be able to test their knowledge in quizzes and games, such as giant chess, ping-pong, table foosball and others. There will also be recognisable spots for taking photos, making memories but also interesting postcards.
The Summer at Matoš Festival is famous for retro scenography that is reminiscent of old Zagreb and brings back times long gone. This time, the time machine also involves rituals of family outings to football games as well as a very strong and, unfortunately, somewhat forgotten team spirit.
