Fair of Antiques, Art Pieces and Vintage Items: How to Spend a Sunday Morning?

Many antiques lovers never fail to visit British Square in Zagreb on Sunday mornings. This is where the Fair of Antiques, Art Pieces and Vintage Items takes place from 7 to 14:30. It is an attractive place for those intending to purchase something or just take a look and experience it.

This is where around a hundred participants offer treasures from their attics, basements or rarely opened drawers. One can find antiques, cookware, watches, jewellery, numismatic items, old books, vinyl records, comic books and postcards as well as artwork, vintage items and similar. A tour of the stalls, which is always interesting, often ends with a purchase, bringing satisfaction to both the seller and the buyer. The purchase is, of course, always accompanied with a lot of talk and convincing, nostalgic reminiscing of times long gone and of former owners of exhibited items or authors of artwork.

It is therefore no wonder that British Square (Croatian: Britanski trg), colloquially referred to as the Brit and Little Market or Britanac and Mali plac in Croatian, is always lively on Sundays. It also takes quite a lot of persistence to find a table in numerous bars surrounding the square, especially in those that offer the best view of the dynamic life of this colourful fair. However, those who manage to find those special items they have been searching for or secretly desired for a long time will be the most content. These items will become another reminder of their stay in Zagreb.

British Square is located next to the main street in Zagreb, Ilica Street, and it is easy to reach from the central square in Zagreb in a ten-minute leisurely walk.

In addition to it, there are other fairs taking place occasionally or permanently in the open-air spaces of some other markets in Zagreb where one can find interesting souvenirs and practical items.
