60th Edition of Floraart: Scented, Colourful, Romantic
Floraart, which is celebrating six decades since its beginning, is the most romantic and the most scented exhibition in Zagreb which holds a special space in the hearts of citizens and visitors of Zagreb.
It is very likely that Floraart is seen as favourite and the most romantic open-air exhibition in Zagreb by many and it is certainly the most visited. This explains its long tradition. This year, the International Garden Show Floraart will take place from 14 to 17 May, and it will be its 60th jubilee. After previously changing several different locations, in the last two decades the setting of the exhibition is Bundek Park whose lake and beautiful nature provide perfect surroundings for this garden show. The motto of the exhibition this year is “Water – the Fountain of Life”, and its symbol is the iris flower, which is also the national flower of Croatia. The fact that the first day of the event was named the Italian Day, and Saturday two days later is the Czech Day proves the international character of the exhibition.
The exhibition and the additional activities will take place in an area larger than 300.000 square metres. A part of this will be taken by exhibitors who will present new trends in landscaping and demonstrate new ideas and solutions in gardens and green areas design. Still, floral arrangements, many types of flowers and a rich promotional sale of seedlings regularly garner the most attention from the public. As in previous years, it is certain that visitors will be carrying numerous flowers or seedlings to decorate their yards, balconies and residential areas as they leave the area. As is tradition, before Floraart takes place citizens will receive a special invitation to enter the competition for the most beautiful garden and during the exhibition winners of the competition will be announced.
Every year, Floraart dispalys a strong educational dimension, so interesting lectures and workshops take place within its framework, as well as the traditional Croatian Florists’ Cup and the 20th edition of the competition of high school students in arranging flowers.
The exhibition is accompanied by an eventful cultural and entertainment programme for children and adults.
