6th Edition of Medvednica Trail: Exciting Race Just Outside the City
An attractive trail race in the Medvednica Nature Park and the vicinity of the capital and its tourist attractions are a winning combination for an increasing number of runners.
The 6th Edition of the Medvednica trail will take place on 24 May, and attract around 400 adult runners and around a hundred primary school children. The race will be held in the beautiful Medvednica Nature Park, approximately ten kilometres away from the City of Zagreb. The start and the finish line will be located on Hunjka Meadow, and the routes of various lengths and difficulty levels stretch along the entire park.
Medvednica trail is part of UTMB Index Races and ITRA National League Cup. Participants can choose a course in line with their fitness level. The longest and the most demanding course called Kameni svatovi 60K is 59 kilometres long, followed by Ponikve 45K, which is 44.7 kilometres long and Plazur 30K, which is 29 kilometres long and also intended for experienced trail runners.
The Medvednica Trail also offers a 14.7 kilometres long course intended for beginners in trailrunning, called Gorščica 15K. Due to its mild slopes, every trail running newbie can master it. Hunjka 5K is a course intended for persons who wish to experience trail running for the first time or for road runners who want to find out what trail running is all about.
Each year, an increasing number of foreign runners come from as many as 19 countries to show their interest in the race. In addition to being a physical challenge, Medvednica Trail also draws their attention due to a beautiful landscape of the Medvednica Nature Park and the vicinity of Zagreb, the capital which is an interesting tourist destination.
