European Mobility Week: Bicycle and Public Transport instead of Cars
Zagreb is taking part in this year’s edition of the European Mobility Week with more than 150 activities available on several city locations and to all generations, free of charge.
The City of Zagreb is taking part in the European Mobility Week, traditionally taking place from 16 to 22 September with the support of the European Commission, with an eventful and varied programme.
This European initiative encourages both small and large cities to introduce and promote sustainable means of transport. In line with that, this year’s topic is on intergenerational fairness and it is directed to considering sustainable mobility as a prerequisite of an active, quality and more accessible life for all generations.
Zagreb is taking part in this year’s campaign of the European Mobility Week with more than 150 activities on several locations in the city, free of charge. It is a chance to involve citizens and raise awareness about sustainable mobility. The programmes are intended for all generations, from the youngest who will get a chance to participate in an organised bicycle or rollerblading tour to the elderly who are encouraged to walk, be physically active, ride bicycles and similar.
On 21 September, a panel discussion entitled Zagreb for All – In Step with the World on mobility, public space and a new pedestrian area will take place in the Lapidarium of the Archaeological Museum in Zagreb.
A day later, on 22 September a Car-free Day will take place in the city centre. Citizens will be able to use public transport and the public bicycle system Bajs free of charge.
There are also educational programmes dedicated to sustainable mobility, entertaining events and concerts taking place in the city during the European Mobility Week.
