34th Edition of Zagreb Powerade Marathon: Two Excellent Sports Events in One
This year, the World Masters Athletics Marathon Championship is taking place alongside the Zagreb Powerade Marathon. Therefore, Zagreb will become the world capital of marathoners in October.
The 34th Zagreb Powerade Marathon, which in itself is an outstanding sports event, this year provides a framework for another excellent sporting event, the World Masters Athletics Marathon Championship. On 11 October, streets of Zagreb will live with a special sporting dynamics, equally precious both to world’s athletes and to spectators who are traditionally the best support and the best fans to competitors.
The 34th Zagreb Powerade Marathon, which starts and finishes on the central Ban Josip Jelačić Square, offers marathon, half marathon, 10k and relay races. A half marathon race is 21 kilometre long, and participants in marathon race will run the same route twice for the total of 42 kilometres. Also, there is a possibility to participate in a four-member relay race, regardless of the runners’ gender. The registration period ends in late September. One day before the main race, there is an attractive children’s race in which young competitors of various ages from kindergarten to the sixth grade of primary school will test their speed and stamina.
One proof of its quality is the fact that the Zagreb Marathon is a holder of the World Athletics AIMS certificate, meaning that results achieved at the Zagreb course are valid to achieve norm for all large world competitions, the Olympics, world and European Competitions. It is also part of the Abbot World Marathon Majors Age Group qualifications, meaning it allows runners to qualify for participation in the world largest marathons in Boston, Chicago, New York, London, Berlin and Tokyo.

It is one of the most important events in the world for veteran athletes so Zagreb will be visited by competitors from many world countries.
