Jarun: World Beach Handball Championship in June

Croatian athletes will be defending the title at the World Beach Handball Championship, so it is certain that the competition at Zagreb’s Jarun Lake will bring special emotions in addition to cheering in the spirit of fair-play.

From 23 to 28 June, Zagreb will host the World Beach Handball Championship, taking place at the Jarun Sports and Recreation Centre. The fact that the International Handball Federation (IHF) awarded the organising rights to the Croatian Handball Federation is a proof of successful collaboration, trust in the organisational skills of the Croatian Federation, but also of the excellent results of Croatian athletes.

At this year’s world championship, 16 national teams will fight for the title of the best in men’s and women’s competition. Croatia will be defending the title of world’s champions in men’s competition. Croatian beach handball players do not hide their ambition to win the title of the world champions for the fifth time with support of their fans, and therefore earn their place in the “permanent rankings”. Brazil is currently the only country with that kind of performance. Croatian female beach handball players, who have brought seven medals from major tournaments so far, do not hide their ambition to achieve a high ranking either.

Based on these facts, it is easy to conclude that the World Beach Handball Championship will bring special emotions to the hosting country and that there will be abundant support for the Croatian and all other athletes.

This will be a chance for competitors and their teams as well as fans to get to know Zagreb and its catering, cultural, entertainment and commercial offer and enjoy hospitality and positive atmosphere that Zagreb and its citizens are famous for.
