Zagreb Museum Weekend: Invitation to Interesting and Inspirational Journey
The first weekend in September brings an invitation to a relaxed tour of museums in Zagreb which offer appealing programme and special welcome to all visitors.
The Zagreb Museum Weekend – MUV is a unique project that invites citizens and visitors of Zagreb to an interesting, educational and inspiring journey around city’s museums. Eleven museums owned or co-owned by the city will open their doors from 3 to 6 September and in addition to existing exhibitions, display more than 160 interesting programmes on this occasion.
The organiser of the Zagreb Museum Weekend – MUV is the City of Zagreb with the support of the Zagreb Tourist Board.
The four-day programme encompasses exhibitions, guided tours, creative workshops, thematic panel discussions, cultural walks and other activities intended for all generations. The entrance to the museums is free of charge during the event, but due to limited space, registering for certain workshops is obligatory.
MUV starts in the evening of 3 September with an opening ceremony at the Klovićevi dvori Gallery, preceded by a warm-up and entertaining programme at the Lapidarium of the Archaeological Museum. The weekend will finish at the Zagreb City Museum with Living Pictures, one of the recognisable programmes of the museum in which costumed characters bring the history of Zagreb to life.
Last year’s first MUV museum tour attracted 20 000 visitors and this year even more are expected to join.
