76th Edition of Boris Hanžeković Memorial: World Athletics Elite Is Coming to Zagreb

The world’s best athletes are soon coming to Zagreb to attend the 76th edition of the Boris Hanžeković Memorial, one of the most renowned athletics events in the world.

The 76th edition of the Boris Hanžeković Memorial, which is one of the oldest sporting events in Croatia, will gather the world’s best athletes from 24 to 26 June in Zagreb. It is part of the elite Continental Tour Gold meeting series and it became one of the most esteemed athletics events in the world.

The competition will take place at two locations in the city during three days. The Zagreb City Challenge is a competition in high jump for women which will take place on 24 June, on the first day of this sporting event. One day later, at the Ivan Ivančić Memorial, men will compete in the shot put. These two competitions of the Memorial will take place in the area of the wonderful Zagreb Fountains, which athletes are already familiar with. The Boris Hanžeković Memorial itself, which gathers athletes competing in other disciplines, will take place on 26 June at the Mladost Sports Park.

More than 15 000 spectators are expected to attend the competitions, and the TV broadcast of the event will be available in more than 130 countries of the world.

The Boris Hanžeković Memorial was named after the best Croatian pre-war athlete and a brave patriot who lived between 1916 and 1945. In addition to being recognised for record results, athletic struggle and fair play, it is also famous for an excellent atmosphere in the competition area but also throughout the host city, Zagreb.
