Accompanied by Tourist Guides: Themed Tours as a Gift

There are many interesting stories in the life of the city, secrets and public secrets presented to you as a gift by the Zagreb Tourist Board in September.

For all of those visiting Zagreb in September, the Zagreb Tourist Board has prepared a special surprise – free of charge city tours every weekend. They are intended for all generations and will take place in 28 time slots. For the first time they will also be available in English. With prior reservation, this is a chance to see the history and present of Zagreb from a different perspective, while also finding out about special people, entertaining stories, everyday habits and learning about a different view on famous historical events.

You can choose from five interesting city tours. The first is entitled the Most Beautiful Love Stories of the City of Zagreb. In addition to romantic personal stories, it will say a lot about the life if the city itself, its history, former and current worldview and certainly after this, Zagreb will become a more romantic city in your eyes.

In a costumed walk, the city tour entitled Zagreb’s Mischiefs and Tavern Chronicles unveils before your eyes intriguing and humorous stories from the life of the city at the turn of the 19th to 20th century, intertwined with power games, political slips and schemes. We know that many stories from every period turned from secrets into public secrets when told over a full glass.

Zagreb Marry-go-around is intended for children aged from 5 to 12 but also for their families. It is an educational and entertaining experience led by a costumed guide and two animators, offering an interesting journey through the world of legends and games of Zagreb and involves active participation of children.

The city tour entitled Orient Express in Zagreb takes you to a period when the famous Orient Express travelled through the city. With intriguing stories, guides explain interesting people and locations. Let us add that Zagreb’s Esplanade Hotel was built to accommodate the guests arriving with the Orient Express, as well as other many beautiful palaces which remain symbols of the city.

The Green Walk takes you through nature and familiarises visitors with Zagreb’s parks and recreational zones. Along with the pleasure of strolling, it brings interesting stories, a bit of mysticism but also reveals one dimension of everyday life in Zagreb.
