Lost in the stars

HRT Jazz Orchestra, led by its artistic director Miron Hauser, is teaming up with an artist of captivating charisma and expression who knows no genre boundaries – Lucy Woodward. An English-American singer-songwriter born in London to a family of classical musicians, she grew up between New York and the Netherlands absorbing many musical influences, from the classical music and traditional music of the Middle East to jazz and R&B. All this has shaped her unique sound in which her raw emotional depth and technical precision come to the fore. With her powerful vocals of impeccable control, she moves with ease from cascading passages to soft whisper, through countless dynamic and emotive nuances, creating an authentic performance. Numerous artistic collaborations have led her to perform with a number of European big bands, including the Frankfurt Radio Big Band, WDR Big Band, Danish Radio Big Band, Odense Jazz Orchestra, Orchestra Jazz Siciliana and Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, and now they are joined by the HRT Jazz Orchestra. There will be no shortage of instrumental gems from the orchestra's repertoire either, including the classics of one of Croatia's most important jazz musicians, Miljenko Prohaska, whose influence as a long-time leader of the Croatian Radiotelevision Jazz Orchestra is still visible today, and whose 100th anniversary of birth we are celebrating this year.
