Zagreb Eye is an observation deck in the heart of the Croatian capital. Located at Ban Jelačić Square in Zagreb, on the 16th floor - at the very top of the Zagreb Skyscraper, 1 Ilica Street, it offers a unique view of Ban Jelačić Square, Kaptol, Gradec, Upper and Lower Town, and the most important historical buildings in Zagreb, its squares, streets and parks. On a clear day, you can enjoy views of Moslavina hills to the east, and Žumberak hills and Slovenia to the west.

The Zagreb Skyscraper, or Ilica Skyscraper, was built between 1957 and 1959. At the time of its opening, it was the tallest and most modern building in the former Yugoslavia. For thirty years it was called the Špica – the center of social events and the favorite place for first romantic meetings, dance parties, panoramic views of the city and coffee breaks. Even today, many remember hot dogs which were served on the ground floor, and milkshakes served on the top of the skyscraper. The observation deck was closed in 1989, depriving the city’s tourist offer of one of the most distinctive values of the capital. It has now reopened in its former glory.

The Zagreb Eye observation deck is open for public every day of the year from 10 a.m. until 11.45 p.m., regardless of the weather and the season. Some members of the staff are students. Many of them speak several foreign languages and will gladly make recommendations to the visitors and give other useful tourist information, along with free tourist brochures about Zagreb. The interior is equipped with air conditioning in summer and heating in winter. The observation deck is accessible to people with disabilities. It is pet friendly, and pets are always welcome. Ticket price for adults is 60 kn, for children aged 3 and over 30 kn, and groups can get special discounted ticket price. The ticket purchased throughout the day can be used for sightseeing at night, but it is non-transferable. Free Wi-Fi is available for all visitors.

In addition to the covered terrace with a breathtaking 360-degree view, the central part of the observation deck is the 200 m² window-encircled venue intended for promotions of tourist destinations, products and brands. This versatile venue can be used for private, business and ceremonial events, including promotions, seminars, conferences, diplomatic receptions, as well as celebrations and anniversaries.

Jesse Eisenberg (actor) spent the autumn in Zagreb in 2007: Zagreb is an incredible town. I enjoyed sightseeing the old parts of the town, and at night I went to clubs. I was thrilled that it was near Austria and Italy, so I visited Venice, Milan, Ljubljana, Graz, Split... over the weekends.

I am looking forward to Zagreb as a destination where I always feel good. It seems it has been too long since the last time I was here, although it was just a year or so.
